Predicting the matches
Predict the score of all the matches in the tournament. You have until 1 minute before the start of a match to add or change your prediction.
The matches in the knockout stages are not filled in yet. I’ll add them once the teams are through to the next round. These predictions can also be changed up to 1 minute before the game starts. My advice is to put in a prediction now even though you don’t know who will qualify. You might get a nice surprise when one of your random predictions come in.
For knockout stages the score at the end of the game including extra time is used. Goals in a penalty shoot-out are not taken into consideration.
You get points for predicting the correct winner or prediction of a draw. In case you also predict the exact amount of goals scored, you get extra points too. If you guess the number of goals scored you get an extra goal bonus, even if you didn’t get the match result correct (e.g. match ends in 1-1 and you predicted 0-1 you will still get 1 point). You can also get a bonus for predicting the correct winner or the correct goal difference.

Golden Ball
You can use 3 Golden balls this year!
The Golden ball can be applied against any match to double your score for that match. To use your Golden Ball select the wee football next to the prediction, it turns gold to show its been selected but remember to click the save button at the bottom of the page. The Golden Ball can be changed but you need to do it 1 min before kick-off.
Ranking
The rankings are updated daily. Sometimes the ranking might be updated more than once during the day but only points earned from full time scores will be taken into account. If you want to view the ranking, then go to the ranking page
Same ranking?
When multiple players have the exact same amount of points, then the following sorting rules are applied on the ranking (most important one at the top):
- amount of full scores;
- amount of toto scores
Appeals process
Any appeals should be submitted through the formal appeals process using the official Football Genius WhatsApp group. Appeals will be reviewed by the Football Genius Committee and decisions will be published to ensure full transparency. We pride ourselves on maintaining high ethical standards, fairness and honesty.
